CANNONBALL FINISH-LINE 2019
The Chamber intends supporting and promoting the Cannonball Event in September 2019, utilising our resources, skills, and contacts. We will work as a collective and with partners from across the County including the 250+ businesses in the Edenderry area, all of the Accommodation providers in the area, the many Musicians and Entertainers, Food and Drinks Hot Spots who will provide outstanding service to all attendees. Being highly skilled and well connected, the Chamber shall, provide a direct route to the Council Executive, and the Municipal District Councillors in an effort to achieve a seamless event. Through our close working relationships with the local state services such as coordinating the Fire Brigade, Civil Defence, the Ambulance Bay and working on a detailed traffic management system with the council and An Garda Siochana we shall be well-placed to providing a perfect location for the finish line.
The Chamber has the additional and important role of ensuring access to funding, the Chamber Members are experienced in dealing with local authority grant applications and can provide support on applications for funding to the festival organizer and the other ancillary organisers. Additionally, the chamber will support local sponsorship drives and will engage with and coordinate any spectacles such as a fly-over/ or parachute drop at the town hall through direct contacts with the Parachute Club-Clonbollogue Airfield.
CANNONBALL FESTIVAL (EDENFEST)
The Chamber will create and deliver a festival – EDENFEST, which will include a programme of events that will link to and expand upon the central activity of the Cannonball Finish. A range of events and promotions shall be comprised by the Chamber and through a sub-committee shall be delivered. Whatever the programme is, it shall be tailored to Edenderry, highlighting and capitalising on the cultural diversity of the area and ensuring that events are appropriate and attractive to the local population and target market within the 30-50-minute drive time catchment area. The Chamber endeavours to deliver a sustainable programme that promotes the commercial heart i.e. that being the town centre. The aim of the festival is to engage businesses, cultural and arts organisations, community groups, partners and schools.
It is anticipated that this coordinated approach will drive footfall not only during the festival but on the build-up to the festival. The Chamber will encourage its members specifically retailers to sell, bunting, flags, clothing, Cannonball memorabilia and many other goods that will help promote an interest and boost sales. Schools Competitions and Community Competitions will be run to create a MASCOT a SLOGAN and so forth. It is estimated that more than 30,000 visitors could descend on the Town during Cannonball, total countrywide revenue is estimated at €2.7 mio. It is also envisaged that by engendering civic pride through the hosting of this festival we will further build trust and loyalty of residents and visitors to the town centre, Edenderry shall become a more vibrant, appealing and competitive town centre.
